At the Machine Learning in Healthcare Summit in July 2021 there was a fascinating presentation ‘ AI in Digital Pathology’ given by Dr. Anne Martel https://lnkd.in/dSygrNR on using machine learning for diagnosing cancer from medical images. It was a continuation of what I saw in November 2018 at a ML conference in Toronto, Canada.
If you think that diagnosing cancer from medical images is as easy as classifying cats and dogs, think again.
$ billions are being invested in this area where accuracy is absolutely critical, and one for which it is impractical to only rely on labeled data so that semi-supervised learning is a key technology.
